Una forma de acercarnos al estudio del hombre y su desarrollo técnico y científico es conocer los patrones de medida que ha usado para contar, tanto espacios (longitudes, áreas y volúmenes) como capacidades de lo que producía (cereales, etc).
El encontrar patrones estables de medida y fácilmente reproducibles y combrobables, ha sido una tarea ardua que en muchas culturas, incluso se deificó considerando que los dioses habían abastecido al hombre de los patrones de medida. Es decir, las medidas procedían de Dios.
Es la idea de la Biblia, probablemente contaminada de la permanencia de los hebreos en Egipto.
Desde hace 16 años, un grupo de físicos viene trabajando en la recuperación, origen, zona geográfica y si es posible fuente histórica de las antiguas medidas, principalmente las de longitud, preparando una gran base de datos que esperamos pueda ser una contribución, tanto al mundo de la antropología como al de las religiones antiguas y a la misma Ciencia.
Por ello, su contribución puede ser inestimable y estaríamos sumamente agradecidos de cualquier medida que usted conozca o haya oído, anterior al Sistema Métrico Decimal y nos la envíe a través del formulario de contacto del menú.
Así mismo, cualquier indicación que nos pueda proporcionar para localizar unidades de medida (libros, museos, webs, etc) será de un inestimable valor para el trabajo que hemos emprendido.
Debido a la cantidad de preguntas que se nos plantean sobre los patrones actuales de medida, hemos incorporado la Norma SI de obligado cumplimiento en la Unión Europea.
A way of getting closer to the study of the man and his technical and scientific development, is to know the standards of measures he used to count both space (longitudes, areas, volumes) and capacities of what he produced (cereals, etc).
It has been a very arduous task to find stables standards of measures that are easy to reproduce and to prove or demonstrate. In many cultures, it has even been considered that the gods supplied man with those standards of measures. In other words, the standards of measures came from God.
The idea come from the Bible, which had probably been contaminated by the stay of the Hebrew in Egypt.
For sixteen years a group of physicists have been working in the searching and recovering of the origins, geographical areas and when possible the historical source of the ancient measures, specially the longitudinal ones. They´ve been preparing a large data base that we hope it could be an important contribution to the anthropological and the science in itself.
Therefore, your contribution could be invaluable. Please, if you hear of any kind of measure system previous to the metric system we would be thankful if you could send it to us.
In the same way, any information that you could provide, as books, museums, webs, etc … to find units of measures, would be invaluable for the work we´ve undertaken.
